Ishan Kishan has not been a part of the one day side for two successive years whether one speaks of 2024 or 2025. But he scored 174 runs at an average of over 43 from just 4 innings. This includes a highest one day score this year of 125. Furthermore, where it comes to the T20 internationals, then the top order batter already scored 812 runs this year and is touching 1,000 runs already from 23 games. His strike rate is inching northerly each game that comes and goes and is currently pointing to 176 plus. These are healthy and agressive numbers for somone who made a brave and noteworthy comeback into the Indian men’s senior international side having been benched for indifferent form just 18 months or so ago.

But, all of that said, if one weee to ask Ishan Kishan himself as to what format is the game he himself yearns to play then perhaps it might not be surprising even a bit to hear the answer. And that’s Test match cricket of course.

Combining a newfound hunger to bat with the natural born talent, which is perfected to great measure. Ishan Kishan seems like he meant to a go long way. He is no longer the casual looking bloke whose big hitting in the middle of the ground would command headlines for a day or two at the most. Something about him has changed. Something about him has perhaps made him fall a little deeper in love with the game in which he finds his lives, meaning and true purpose.

And truth be told what can be more beautiful than finding a talented young batter in India with all his heart and desire to succeed in the sternest competition and format known to a player – test match cricket.

Isn’t it?

If one way to hear Ishan Kishan in his own words about the relevance, importance of test, Cricket and just what it holds in his life, then the following can be understood well in terms of what the left-handed matter had exclaimed about Red ball cricket

“I would 100% love to be part of the Indian Test team. Anyone who has played Test cricket would love this format. People don’t believe me, but I really do enjoy red-ball cricket. My only job is to score runs and make my team win”.

Having said that, the only real challenge in Ishan Kishan’s way in terms of making it back to the Indian test team is the fact that not only is Rishabh Pant in great form, but with several talents, already making the cut of the playing eleven in Red Ball Cricket, it’s a bit constricted for space.
