Al-Hilal and Brazil soccer star Neymar Jr was welcomed by the Miami Marlins ahead of their opening day clash in the Major League Baseball (MLB) 2024 against the  Pittsburgh Pirates at LoanDepot Park, the home stadium of the Marlins. Brazil's all-time top scorer with 79 goals, Neymar, threw the first pitch ahead of the Marlins and Pirates game.

Before the event, Neymar threw the first pitch to the defending National League champion Luis Arraez, which was followed by a familiar handshake and then the duo posed for pictures and a signed jersey by Brazil’s highest goal-scorer to the second baseman. The home team also gifted the team jersey to Neymar with No.10 on the back.

The former FC Barcelona forward is currently rehabilitating from a surgery of anterior cruciate ligaments and meniscus injury which he suffered last year in November. In the Spanish club, he formed an attacking trio with Lionel Messi, and Luis Suarez before moving to PSG and eventually to Al-Hilal.

Talking about the opening day game between the Miami Marlins and Pittsburgh Pirates, the visiting side crushed the Skip Schumaker side by 5-6. However, there is little room for error now as they will play two consecutive matches in as many days against the same opposition again.
