Lucknow Super Giants vice-captain Nicholas Pooran smashed Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowler Reece Topley on the roof of the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in IPL 2024. Batting first, the Super Giants finished their 20 overs after scoring 181 runs. For the majority of the LSG inning, opener Quinton de Kock hit 81 in 56 balls with eight fours and five sixes.
But after the South African's dismissal, Lucknow struggled as Yash Dayal and Glenn Maxwell slowed the scoring rate. But in the nineteenth over, Pooran took on Reece Topley, who had bowled decently concerning 19 runs in three overs. The Englishman started the over with a dot and a wide before Pooran hit two sixes.

Then on the fourth ball of the over, the West Indian played a pull shot against Topley which went for a 106m maximum over deep mid-wicket which landed on the roof. Pooran then attacked Mohammed Siraj in the final over as he hit two sixes and remained not out at 40 in 21 balls with five sixes and one four.

Plan was to keep it simple and wait for a mistake: Glenn Maxwell
Speaking about Royal Challengers Bengaluru's bowler effort, Glenn Maxwell, in the mid-innings interview, said, "Plan was to keep it simple and wait for a mistake. Probably going to be a tough chase because it's (bounce) a bit inconsistent, we have to be at our best."
"I felt like we gave a lot of easy boundaries at the start and wanted to get a bit of energy and a wicket. Dropped catches cost us. I think it's two paced so we have to be at our best. Hopefully, the ones who get starts can go on," he continued.
