If there is one tennis player in the world who can entertain the fans in the middle of a crucial Grand Slam match, it has to be Nick Kyrgios without a doubt. The 26-year-old is known for his unorthodox antics on the court and as the Aussie got set for the first round match of Australian Open 2022 in front of his home crowd, he did not shy away from putting up a fantastic show for everyone.
In his opening encounter on Tuesday, Kyrgios was up against Great Britain's Liam Broady in Round 1 at John Cain Arena. The crowd was expectedly behind the local boy and the Aussie found different ways to steal the show.
In one of the most outrageous moments, he produced an underarm-tweener serve i.e. serving the tennis ball from between his legs. His spontaneous action caught his opponent off guard and in a hurried attempt to return the serve, Broady hit the ball beyond the baseline.
While the commentators, who were absolutely stunned, termed it as 'ridiculous' and something they have never seen, the crowd was delighted with Kyrgios' moment of cheekiness and brilliance. The stadium had certainly erupted with some people on their feet to hail the Aussie.
Kyrgios' celebration summed up the whole moment as he raised his arms, presumably reflecting that he is simply awesome!

The 26-year-old continued to dazzle and play around with his opponent and he came with another moment of madness in the contest. In between a brilliant rally where both the players produced some amazing shots, Kyrgios (out of nowhere) came up with a tweener and with his opponent once again getting confused with this craziness, the Aussie then produced a scintillating forehand to seal the point.
It was literally 'box office entertainment' as described by the official account of the Australian Open on social media.
Kyrgios eventually went on to win the match in straight sets with scores reading 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. The Aussie has now set up a thrilling second-round tie against World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev set to take place on January 20.
