Indian cricket team’s rising batting star Nitish Kumar Reddy got a rousing reception as he landed in Vizag after a memorable outing in Australia. Reddy was a part of India’s squad which travelled to the land Down Under for the five-match Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series. While India had a forgetful series after recording a loss for the first time in a decade, Reddy made the most of his time in the squad and came up with his maiden Test ton for India.
As the 21-year-old seam-bowling all-rounder landed in Vishakhapatnam, he was showered with petals and adorned with a massive garland. The videos of Reddy receiving a hero’s welcome has been doing rounds on social media, where he was seated in the front of an open jeep with father, Mutyalu Reddy. The caravan moved through the lanes of Gajuwaka, which is Nitish’s hometown in Visakhapatnam, while fans cheered for their local hero.

Nitish Kumar Reddy, a 21-year-old bowling all-rounder, had a debut to remember, where he scored 298 runs with the bat across five matches. Across the series, Nitish’s average was 37.25, which made him India’s second-highest run-scorer in the series. The highlight of Nitish’s outing came during the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), where he smashed a remarkable maiden Test century. He hit 114 runs in a resilient knock, which impressed legends and fans alike.
Talking about his performance with the ball, Nitish took five wickets with the best figures of 2-32. Nitish has already played five Tests and three T20Is, where he has scored 90 runs at an average of 45.00 as well as three wickets at 23.66. However, the youngster is yet to make his ODI debut.
