The competition between the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) started with the origination of the latter in 2016. This year, schedules of both marquee T20 tournaments are colliding for the first time which has led fans of both leagues to receive double doses of cricket simultaneously. Recently, a video has surfaced on social media in which a Pakistani spectator can be seen viewing Delhi Capitals’ (DC) Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game on his cellphone while being present at a stadium to watch a PSL game.

The video has given rise to an old debate on social media about which league is bigger in terms of popularity. Prior to the start of PSL 2025, Pakistan pacer and Karachi Kings vice-captain Hasan Ali asserted that PSL will surpass IPL in terms of viewership if the former improves quality of cricket. "Fans watch the tournament where there's good cricket with entertainment. If we play well in the PSL, viewers will leave the IPL to watch us," Hasan had remarked to Geo News, before the PSL 2025 opening contest between defending champions Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars. However, in the competition between both distinguished leagues., genuine cricket buffs are relishing top-notch sporting action.
