Prithvi Shaw, who was once touted as the next big name in Indian cricket, is undergoing a slump in form and in a recent move was snubbed from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after failing to find a franchise at the mega auction, held across two days, November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Since the day he has gone unsold at the mega auction, Shaw has been in the news.
In the latest move, Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal was also asked of not going for Prithvi Shaw despite he being in the side till IPL 2024. It is to be noted that in the eight games he featured in for DC in IPL 2024, the Indian batter amassed 198 runs at an average of 24.75 and strike rate of 163.63.
I think this is that one jolt Prithvi needed: Parth Jindal
Speaking with Sports Today after the completion of the two-day IPL 2025 mega auction, Parth Jindal expressed, "Prithvi is a great kid. He is misunderstood in many ways. And I think all of us growing up need a jolt and need to be shaken up from our slumber. There are times when I even needed that jolt. All your life you grow up hearing that you are the special one, you're the most talented, you're the only other batter in the world other than Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to have an MRF bat. That tells you a lot about what everyone thought about him.”
"People calling you Lara, somebody calling you Sachin, someone else calling you the next big thing. You grow up in that environment, and everyone from Mumbai cricket talking big about you. I think this is that one jolt Prithvi needed. Till now, he was on a fat IPL contract, he was playing for Mumbai across all formats, and was someone starting for DC at least. I think he needs to work hard. He needs to get back to loving the game of cricket. He needs to get back to the nets, get his fitness. He needs to get back and understand where he went wrong and get disciplined," he added.

The DC co-owner also opined that Shaw needs to get back to the drawing board and figure out his future in the game. He feels that Shaw needs to get that discipline which he promised as a youngster to chalk out a better future.
