In the match 55th of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Pat Cummins, the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), opened the bowling for the team, and he started off with a first ball wicket, dismissing Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Karun Nair without troubling the scorers. The right-arm fast bowler also got the better of Faf du Plessis and Abishek Porel on the first ball of the next couple of overs in his spell, to demolish the DC top order.
Notably, on the first ball of the DC innings, Pat Cummins, who had put the opposition into batting first, gave a perfect start to SRH, nicking off Karun Nair through to wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan. SRH captain took the second wicket of the night on the first ball of his second over in the spell, getting the better of Faf du Plessis on the pull, who got the under edge through to the wicketkeeper after scoring just three runs in eight balls.

After that, Pat Cummins continued the trend of taking another wicket on the first ball of the over, sending Abishek Porel back into the pavilion for eight runs in 10 balls, who top edged the pull stroke, only for Ishan Kishan to take a fantastic catch running to his left. As of this writing, DC have lost half their side with just 29 runs on the board in the seventh over of their innings.
