In the ongoing second Test between West Indies and Australia in Grenada, the latter’s captain Pat Cummins exhibited his agility to get rid of Keacy Carty. On the first day of the match, Australia posted a total of 286 on the board after playing 66.5 overs. Beau Webster and Alex Carey shone with their bats and produced the innings of 60 and 63 respectively. From the Windies side, Alzarri Joseph delivered a tough time to batters as he took a four-wicket haul to help his team restrict the visitors on the average score. Defending the total, when Australia came to bowl, their pacer Josh Hazlewood delivered them the first breakthrough. He dismissed Kraigg Brathwaite on a duck.

Following his departure, the hosts were expecting John Campbell and Carty to build a strong partnership and stabilise their team’s innings. However, Carty, while facing Cummins in the ninth over of the innings, got an edge from his bat following which the ball remained in the air for a moment. Cummins didn’t miss the opportunity as he followed the ball and took a diving stunner with his outstretched right hand. Eventually, the 32-year-old Aussie completed the catch successfully and handed disappointment to Carty, who walked back to the pavilion after scoring only six off 12 from his bat.

Australia will look to beat West Indies in this game and take an 2-0 series unassailable lead

Australia will endeavour to play an aggressive brand of cricket in this match and hammer the hosts again. With the victory in the match, the Aussies will be able to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match Test series. West Indies, on the other hand, will look to show fighting spirit and win the game as they did in Brisbane in January 2024.

As of writing, West Indies are 229 runs behind as they are on 57/2 in 14.2 overs, with Campbell (unbeaten 33 off 46) and Brandon King (unbeaten 11 off 20) at the crease. West Indies supporters will want this pair to spend time at the crease to help their team go close to the total.
