Following the abandoned Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) on May 8, players from both sides were seen leaving the HPCA Stadium. Batting first after winning the toss, Punjab accumulated 122 runs in the first 10 overs and got a fierce start. However, the lively environment at the stadium turned serious in the 11th over of the game after floodlights went off. The spectators and players were in a state of confusion. Later, IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal was seen standing near the boundary line and alluding the spectators to leave the venue.
In a viral video surfacing on social media, players from both teams can be seen leaving the stadium in a haste. A few Punjab players were spotted getting on a mini-bus. With the latest developments, there are reports that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is in touch with overseas players and are also ready with the preparation to send overseas players to their homeland if they aren’t willing to be with their teams.
IPL 2025 suspended for a week
With the ongoing military conflict between India and Pakistan, IPL 2025 has been suspended for a week. Gujarat Titans (GT) are currently the leaders of the points tally, with eight wins and three losses in 11 outings. PBKS are in the third spot on the table with seven victories and three defeats in 11 games.
DC are holding the fifth place with six wins and four losses in 11 matches. Cricket buffs will want the conflict between the two South Asian nations to end as soon as possible so that lives in both countries can return to normalcy and they also get to enjoy cricketing action.
