The Afghanistan cricket team players are not having a great time on the field against Sri Lanka in their fourth group-stage game of the T20 World Cup 2022. The Mohammad Nabi-led team got strangled in the spinning deliveries of Wanindu Hasaranga after opting to bat first. They also suffered an injury scare while batting as Gulabdin Naib injured his elbow.

Now, while defending a below-par total, Afghanistan seemed to have got another blow with star spinner Rashid Khan walking off the field. Khan injured his knee while fielding in the deep. The incident took place in the 19th over of the Sri Lanka innings when Dhananjaya de Silva pulled a short ball from Fazalhaq Farooqi.

Khan slid to his left to stop the ball and it seemed his leg got stuck in the turf. Resultantly, the fielder had to walk off the field.

With Rashid injuring his knee and Afghanistan already knocked out of the tournament, it is to be seen if the team management risks playing him in the last match.

Coming to the game, it was a clinical win for Sri Lanka as the Dasu Shanaka-led team beat Afghanistan by six wickets. Dhananjaya de Silva scored a half-century (66 off 42 balls) to help Sri Lanka chase down 145 with ease. Kusal Mendia (25 off 27), Charith Asalanka (19 off 18) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (18 off 14) balls also chipped in.

Earlier, with the ball, Wanindu Hasaranga destroyed Afghanistan.  The leg-spinner took three wickets in his four overs and gave away only 13 runs. Lahiru Kumara also chipped in with two wickets.
