Now coming to the match between the two Spanish sides, the game ended in a draw after 90 minutes of grueling battle at Santiago Bernabéu. Hence, Carlos Ancelotti’s men ended their triumphant league campaign with a draw in their final match before facing Liverpool in the Champions League final.

Although Ancelotti fielded the strongest possible XI for the battle between LaLiga champions and Copa del Rey winners, Real Madrid could not go past Betis’ defense. Madrid’s most successful striker this season, Karim Benzema came close to hitting the back of the nets twice but was denied the chance to add to his 27-league goals for the season.

While Madrid came close to scoring a goal thrice, Betis could manage to do it only once. Betis went close when 40-year-old substitute Joaquin fired narrowly over on his 600th LaLiga appearance. Nonetheless, with both teams failing to score, it ended in a 0-0 draw. With this, the Champions League finalists finished their season at the top of the table with 86 points in 38 games.
