Real Madrid is on tour in America and has been facing some of the top clubs from around the world to build up fitness and play in front of an American crowd. During their latest fixture against English giants Manchester United, Los Blanco's loanee Joselu scored a stunning overhead kick in the 89th minute. Arguably the outcome of the match had been decided already, but the remarkable shot put the nail in the coffin as Real Madrid emerged 2-0 victors over United at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

The goal was the spectacular ending to high-quality play by Real Madrid. The play began with holding midfielder Eduardo Camavinga carrying the ball into the United half before passing it across to David Alaba. Finding himself in front of a defensive wall, Alaba cuts it back to Toni Kroos who lobs the United backline to find Lucas Hernandez who crosses it in, and Joselu is there to finish the play off in some style. The celebrations were muted, it is a friendly game after all, but the quality on display will no doubt delight the American fans in attendance.

Joselu - Temporary striker solution for  Real Madrid

Following the departure of Ballon d’Or winning striker Karim Benzema to Saudi club Al-Ittihad, Real Madrid brought in Espanyol striker Joselu on a loan deal, with an option to make it permanent. Joselu, who is himself a Real Madrid youth product, scored sixteen goals for Espanyol last year in La Liga and was the third-highest scorer in the league despite his side’s relegation.

At 33 years of age, he is not the long-term answer to Madrid’s vacant striker position. It is instead thought that he is a stopgap option for Madrid while the Spanish giants wait out Kylian Mbappe’s contract with PSG, which expires next summer and would allow the French international to join Madrid for free.

Real Madrid takes on Barcelona in a friendly on July 30 at the AT&T stadium in Dallas   before playing Juventus in Orlando at the Camping World Stadium.
