Indian batter Rinku Singh’s unbeaten knock of 68 went in vain as the hosts, South Africa beat India by five wickets by DLS method on Tuesday, 12 November. However, the young Indian batter’s inning was acknowledged by many as he even broke a glass with a monstrous six.

The incident took place in the penultimate over of the India inning, bowled by skipper Aiden Markram. After quiet first four ball, Rinku smashed the fifth for a six over wide long-on. On the next ball, he smashed again, going for back-to-back sixes with the last breaking the glass of the media box.

However, when told about it during a video chat after the match, Rinku could not say much, instead just apologised. “I didn’t know my hit broke the glass. Sorry for that”, Rinku can be heard in the video shared by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) with a smile.

While the match went the way of the hosts, the two sides will square off again in the final T20I of the three-match series on Thursday, 14 December at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. Soon after the T20I series, the two teams will take on in a three-match ODI series, followed by a two-match Test series.
