India have lost four wickets so far on day one in the ongoing 1st Test against Bangladesh at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Batting first after losing the toss, India had a poor start as they took three wickets inside the first 10 overs of the first session. Hasan Mahmud shone with the ball for Bangladesh as the fast bowler took big wickets of skipper Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli respectively. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant were taking the Indian innings further before Pant also lost his wicket to Mahmud with a couple of overs after lunch which led to disappointing reaction by head coach Gautam Gambhir.
After losing three wickets for just 34 runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant took the Indian innings further and put up a decent partnership of 62 runs for the fourth wicket. Making his comeback in Test cricket for India after almost two years, Rishabh Pant was looking in good touch as the left-hander scored 39 runs off 52 balls with six boundaries. However, he lost his wicket at a crucial moment attempting to play a lazy cut shot against Hasan Mahmud and ended up giving a catch to wicketkeeper Litton Das. Pant’s dismissal didn’t please Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir as he shook his head in disappointment.
He can get out only by his mistake: Aakash Chopra on Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant’s dismissal put India in a tricky situation in the ongoing Test match against Bangladesh. The hosts have lost four wickets with Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul still at the crease. After the end of the first session when Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal were on their way towards a big partnership, Aakash Chopra who was in the commentary box said, Rishabh Pant can only be dismissed if he plays a poor shot.

During his commentary, Chopra said, “No one is danger for Rishabh Pant, he can get out only by his mistake. However, Pant lost his wicket with two overs into the second session of day 1.
