Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant held on to a thrilling catch to dismiss Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman in the T20 World Cup 2024. The much-awaited clash between India and Pakistan saw the Men in Green rattle the Indians as they bundled them out for the first in T20Is. Rohit Sharma's men posted a total of 119 runs on the back of 42 in 31 balls by Rishabh Pant.
For Pakistan, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf picked up three wickets help clean up India who were looking comfortable at 89-3. Then in the second innings, Pakistan had a steady start as they lost a few wickets but kept scoring at a decent rate.

With Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan in the middle, Pakistan seemed in control when Hardik Pandya was brought on for the 13th over. After a single off the first ball, the Indian all-rounder sent out a rapid shot ball which managed get a top edge off Zaman. As the ball looped up, Rishabh Pant shuffled back, went to his right and then to left before diving back to complete a vital catch.
In the mid-innings, Pakistan Mohammed Amir spoke about how the bowlers did a good job to restrict India to a low total. Amir said, "As a bowling unit we did well but I still think it’s a decent total on this track. We’ll need to bat well."
"My role was to hit the right areas and build pressure on them, I think I did my job. We need to bat well and sensibly, all the games here have been a bit tricky and low-scoring. We need to start well and finish well," he added.
