
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir were seen sharing light-hearted moments at the team hotel in Nagpur on the eve of the first ODI against England at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. With this, the duo also thrashed the rumours of an alleged rift between the two. Notably, after a poor outing in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, there were rumours of a rift between Rohit and Gambhir.
However, on a day ahead of the first ODI of a three-match series against England in Nagpur, both Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir were sharing some laughs after the team dinner which gave the fans a sigh of relief ahead of the much-anticipated Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, Rohit will continue to lead India in the ODI series against England followed by the Champions Trophy starting on February 19.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Harshit Rana receive debut caps in Nagpur ODIs, Virat Kohli misses out of playing XI
India and England are currently in action in the first ODI in Nagpur where the visitors have elected to bat first after winning the toss. After shining in the Tests and T20Is in the last one years, Yashasvi Jaiswall finally got to make his ODI debut, along with fast bowler Harshit Rana who also received his debut ODI cap in Nagpur. However, senior batter Virat Kohli hasn’t been included in the playing XI for the first ODI to knee problem as confirmed by skipper Rohit Sharma.
Talking about the match, batting first, England got a flying start as Phil Salt and Ben Duckett put up a partnership of 75 runs in 8.5 overs. Salt got out after scoring a quickfire 43(26) runs hitting five fours and three sixes, while Duckett scored 32(29) with six boundaries. However, debutant Harshit Rana also made a comeback after that and went on to take a couple of wickets as England were reduced to 77/3 after 10 overs
