Indian captain Rohit Sharma completed his 11th Test century in the 3rd Test against England. Playing in Rajkot, Team India won the toss but their decision to bat first soon seemed regretful with the English attack managing quick breakthroughs from the word go. Mark Wood dismissed the in-form Yashasvi Jaiswal and then sent back Shubman Gill on a nine-ball duck.
India's troubles further escalated after left-arm spinner Tom Hartley dismissed newcomer Rajat Patidar at a score of 5 in 15 balls. With the hosts languishing at 33-3, Rohit Sharma with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja carried India out of trouble. The Indian captain seemingly struggled against James Anderson but capitalised on the inexperienced English spinners.
The pair posted a 156-run stand before Rohit Sharma completed his 11th century in Test cricket. The Hitman reached three figures in red-ball cricket for the first time since India's tour to the West Indies in 2023 where scored 103 in Windsor Park, Roseau. After completing his ton in 157 balls with 11 fours and two sixes, Sharma had a subdued celebration.
