Rohit Sharma might have put down curtains to his T20I and Test cricket career, but continues to be a top-class player in the ODI format. However, his presence in the longest format will be missed, recently during a book launch event of Puja Pujara, Cheteshwar Pujara’s wife, the 38-year-old revealed some interesting anecdotes.
While discussing the incidents from their playing days, the Indian captain recalled an old incident which dated back during India A’s tour of West Indies in 2012. Speaking at the book launch titled, ‘The Diary of a Cricketer’s Wife’, Rohit Sharma asked Cheteshwar Pujara if the incident of the tour was mentioned before opening up about the same.
Moral of the story is that he can be stubborn: Rohit Sharma on Pujara
After being asked of the incident being mentioned in the book, Pujara replied, “I haven't told. I mean, she is aware but she doesn't know the details.” Pujara, who was once known as the Test mainstay in the Indian colours further elaborated the story as he began, “I am a vegetarian. So we were looking for a vegetarian meal at night. It was in T&T (Trinidad and Tobago) where we went out at 11 in the evening. We didn't find the meal but when we were walking back, I was mugged.”
However, the 37-year-old then quickly put an abrupt end to it, stating, “I can't tell you in detail about it but that's the story he is referring to.” Thereafter, Rohit Sharma elaborated that he had actually warned Pujara not to go out at night and described the latter as a stubborn person. “Moral of the story is that he can be stubborn. We told him. We warned him not to go out in the night. Don't step out after 9 PM. This is the West Indies,” Rohit concluded, as the two shared a laugh.
