Mumbai Indians (MI) veteran opener Rohit Sharma met his Team India teammate Shardul Thakur, who is leading Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) fast-bowling unit in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Mumbai and Lucknow will play against each other at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on April 27. Previously both sides squared off against each other at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 4. In that game, Rishabh Pant’s side held their nerves and handed Mumbai a 12-run loss. This time, Mumbai are expected to pose a tough challenge for Lucknow at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on April 27. MI have played extraordinarily in the competition recently, winning four games on the trot.

Ahead of the competition, Rohit and Thakur had an amiable moment with each other. Sharing the clip of the brief chat between the two on X, MI wrote, “When Borivali meets Palghar #MumbaiIndians #PlayLikeMumbai #TATAIPL #MIvLSG.” In the video, Thakur heads towards Rohit and the latter asks the LSG pacer, “Kya re hero abhi aa raha hai, itna late, ghar ka team hai kya?”

Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav will be expected to dominate LSG bowlers in Mumbai

In MI’s last two matches, Rohit has come heavily on bowlers. Against Super Giants, Mumbai will want the 37-year-old to intimidate the visitors’ bowling unit. Playing at his home ground, Rohit took Chennai Super Kings’ bowling attack to the cleaners and struck an unbeaten 76 off 45 on April 20.

Along with Rohit, Suryakumar Yadav has also looked in sensational touch in recent contests. With 373 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of 166.51, the right-handed batter is the fourth-leading run-scorer in the tournament. On the other side, LSG will be concerned about their captain Rishabh Pant’s form. In nine games, the 27-year-old has amassed only 106 runs in eight innings at a miserable average of 13.25.
