In match number 52 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are hosting the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, CSK will be hoping to win their remaining fixtures as a part of their pride, RCB on the other hand, are fighting for a spot in the top four.
After winning the toss, the MS Dhoni-led franchise invited RCB to put the score first on the board. On the back of fifty-plus scores from Jacob Bethell, Virat Kohli and a quick cameo from Romario Shepherd, RCB posted a competitive score of 213/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Out of all these knocks, Shepherd’s late onslaught at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, also etched his name in record books as he scored the joint-fastest 50 in IPL.
Romario Shepherd scored 14-ball 53 to help RCB post 213 in 20 overs
Coming out to bat when the RCB scorecard read 157/5, Romario Shepherd took Khaleel Ahmed and Matheesha Pathirana to the cleaners. In the penultimate over, Romario hit Khaleel for four maximums and two boundaries, scoring 33 runs off the over. Matheesha Pathirana, who came to bowl the final over, was then smashed for two fours and as many sixes as West Indies all-rounder scored a 14-ball fifty.
With a 14-ball 53, Romario helped RCB reach a formidable total of 213 in their 20 overs. He now shared the mark of joint-second fastest fifty with KL Rahul (2018) and Pat Cummins (2022), and only trails Yashasvi Jaiswal, who reached the milestone in 13 balls in 2023.
