A video of former India opener Sachin Tendulkar is making rounds on social media where he was seen practising in the nets at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. For Indian cricket fans, the 51-year-old is acknowledged as the ‘God of Cricket’ as he played a key role in evolving the sport in the country. During his decorated 24-year long international career, he achieved some sensational feats which are still unbroken following his retirement from competitive cricket 12 years ago.
In the recent development, the legendary batter’s clip was shared through five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions MI’s social media handles. The video brought cheers to the faces of fans who showered love and praises on the India cricket legend. The video shows Tendulkar, who was MI’s mentor for 10 IPL seasons from 2014 to 2023, donning the team’s practice jersey with a helmet and producing some amazing strokes from his bat such as straight drives and straight defence.
Taking to X, MI captioned the post, “Look 👀 who we saw 🏏 in the nets from our windows 🥹#MumbaiMeriJaan #MumbaiIndians."
Sachin reunites with Glenn McGrath to bring back epic rivalry
Besides Tendulkar’s practise clip, another video of the cricketing icon is trending on social media sites. Along with his fierce rival Australia’s former pacer Glenn McGrath, Sachin featured in Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital hilarious commercial. The ad led to the debate related to India great's dismissals against the Aussie in cricket history as Sachin reminds the speedster of the infamous incident related to the former's shoulder-before-wicket decision given by umpire Steve Bucknor in the Test match played in Adelaide in 1999.
The debate also witnessed fans remembering Bucknor and also suggesting the inclusion of former West Indies umpire in the ad replacing McGrath. During Sachin’s career, Bucknor was a prominent umpiring figure and he faced ire for his controversial decisions against the Master Blaster.
