In a preseason friendly game on Saturday, Serie A team Sassuolo thrashed non-league team Real Vicenza 22-0. Two minutes into the game, Sassuolo opened the scoring and went into halftime with a 10-0 lead. The half-time break did not prove beneficial in any way for Real Vicenza, as they went on to concede 12 more goals at full time and ended the match 22-0.

Eight different players from Sassuolo scored on Saturday night, giving no chance to Real Vicenza. Christian Trseth came in second with four goals, closely trailing Samuel Mulattieri's five goals as the game's highest scorer. Three goals were scored by Bajrami, Antiste, and Pinamonti. Berardi scored two goals, Kyriakopoulos added one, and Mateus Enrico added another.

Early in the game, Andrea Pinamonti scored the game's first goal. Pinamonti widened the advantage in the eleventh minute. In the 20th minute, Janis Antiste increased the goal difference, and a few minutes later, Domenico Berardi scored. In the 28th minute, Berardi scored the fifth goal, and Antiste quickly added a sixth. In the 36th minute, Kyriakopoulos scored, and Pinamonti added another. Antiste added a second goal before the break, in addition, Mateus Enrico also scored.

Nedim Bajrami opened the scoring in the second half, and Kristian Thorstvedt added his first of the game a little while after. Thorstvedt added another strike shortly after, and then Samuel Mulattieri scored two goals in the space of three minutes. The second Bajrami goal came in the 64th minute. In the nine minutes that followed, no goals were scored, but Mulattieri scored once more. 79 minutes into the game, Bajrami scored. Thorstvedt and Mulattieri both added two more goals approaching the close of the game.

Although Sassuolo were facing a non-league team that concentrated on youth football since the 2015–16 season, the morale will be surely boosted amongst the players after such a comprehensive victory. They will be starting their main season campaign when they square off against Atalanta on August 20 at home.
