In the IPL 2023 fixture between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants, New Zealand commentator Simon Doull was heard criticising Virat Kohli. The former Indian captain started off the game with a blistering knock of 61 runs in 44 balls, helping RCB post a massive total of 212 runs in the 20 overs.
But Simon Doull felt Virat Kohli was concerned regarding his personal milestone of reaching a half-century. Doull spoke about how Virat Kohli's scoring rate dropped when reached the score of 42 after having a brilliant start.
He said, " Kohli started off like a train and was playing a lot of shots. But 42 to 50 took 10 balls, concerned about a milestone. I don't think there is room for it in the game anymore, you just need to get going, especially with wickets in your hands."

Unfortunately for RCB, they went on to lose the game by one wicket. In the post-match presentation, RCB captain Faf du Plessis was extremely dejected and stated that the team needs to improve in the death bowling department.
He said, "Disappointed. They played well through the middle. One ball one run. We backed ourselves to get a run-out. Just looking at the wicket, from 7-14 it was quite slower. The last five overs it started skidding on. Really good for some good cricketing shots. Stoinis and Pooran played everything off the middle. They took on one of our main bowler (Harshal) in his first couple of overs. It is a difficult place to bowl at the death. You have to be on top of your game. I was struggling for most part of my innings. Was happy to give strike back to Kohli, sometimes you have to scratch. When I started hitting a few of the middle I got my flow back."
