South Korean and Tottenham superstar Son Heung-min spoke in an exclusive interview about where he thinks teenage sensation Lamine Yamal is among the best wingers in the world currently. The 32-year-old placed the Spanish and Barcelona footballer in his list of top five best wingers in the world, while stating that the youngster could be the number one in the next couple of years if he continues to improve his game.

Notably, Lamine Yamal, who is just 17 years of age, has won a couple of big individual awards at the start of his career, including the Kopa Trophy and the Golden Boy award, recognising his ability as one of the most sought-after young footballers in the world. The teenager has already won the UEFA Euro 2024 title with his country Spain, and next year, he will be looking to win the FIFA World Cup for the first-time in his career.

In the next couple of years he will be top, number one: Son on Yamal

While speaking to Goal.com website, Son Heung-min had no hesitation in placing Lamine Yamal among the top five wingers in the world, he didn’t put him in the top three just yet. The South Korean also went on to state that the youngster has all it takes to be the best winger in the world, and it could happen in the next couple of years, looking at the way he is improving his game currently.

Son Heung-min was quoted as saying about the Spanish footballer, “He (Lamine Yamal) is unbelievable. Don’t get me wrong. At this age, the way he performs, he is incredible. I’m enjoying every bit of it. It’s a good thing that he is so young and he still has so much room to improve. So, in the next couple of years he will be top, number one.”

Moreover, in 37 appearances during the ongoing 2024-25 season for Barcelona, Lamine Yamal has scored 12 goals and provided 17 assists in all competitions.
