Gautam Gambhir's India Capitals eliminated Parthiv Patel's Gujarat Giants on Wednesday in the Legends League Cricket 2023 Eliminator after winning the match by 12 runs. However, the match was marred by an on-field altercation between the Capitals skipper, Gautam Gambhir, and the Giants pacer S. Sreesanth during the first innings. Later, the former Indian bowler levelled some serious allegations against Gambhir for his choice of words during the incident.

After defeating the Giants, the Capitals will next face Harbhajan Singh's Manipal Tigers, who lost Qualifier 1 against the Urbanrisers Hyderabad. The Qualifier 2 between the Capitals and the Giants will take place at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat on Wednesday, December 6, and the winner between the two will face the Urbanrisers in the LLC 2023 final.
During the first inning, Gautam Gambhir and S. Sreesanth were involved in a verbal altercation post-powerplay. The umpire and players from both sides appeared to separate the two cricketers as the video went viral on social media.

Sreesanth comments on Gambhir's treatment of Virat Kohli
Sreesanth recorded a video saying, "Just wanted to clear some air about what happened with Mr. Fighter, who always fights with all his colleagues for no reason whatsoever. He doesn't even respect his senior players, including Viru (Sehwag) bhai, and a lot of people, that's what exactly happened today. Without even any provocation, nothing, he just kept on calling me something which is very rude and which shouldn't have been said by Mr. Gautam Gambhir."
He alleged that he didn't abuse or say anything bad to Gambhir, still, he kept on using foul words and used "unacceptable words" on the cricket field. Sreesanth asserted, "I will surely let you all know what he (Gambhir) exactly said."

Sreesanth also pointed at Gambhir doing the post-match presentation and said, "What's the point of respecting people, if you don't respect your own colleagues." Sreesanth also mentioned Indian star Virat Kohli's name, who has been involved in verbal altercations with Gambhir on various occasions. Sreesanth said, " Whenever Gautam Gambhir is asked about Virat Kohli, he starts to talk about something else. "
