Sri Lanka have done it and in some style. The Dasun Shanaka-led team defeated Pakistan by 23 runs in the Asia Cup 2022 final to lift their sixth Asia Cup title. After posting 170/6 with the bat, Sri Lanka bowlers put on a spirited performance as they bundled Pakistan for 147 runs. Pramod Madushan led the charge for Sri Lanka as he took four wickets in his four overs.

He was well-aided by Wanindu Hasaranga who claimed three wickets in his four overs. Chamika Karunaratne did a perfect job as the fifth bowler as the right-arm quick took two wickets in his four overs. Maheesh Theekshana was also among the wickets column as he dismissed Shadab Khan.

The match was done and dusted as soon as Hasaranga got Mohammad Rizwan caught at deep midwicket at the hands of Danushka Gunathilaka. It was a flurry of wickets for Sri Lanka after that as they dismissed five Pakistani batters in the next 23 balls. Chamika Karunaratne put the final nail in the coffin as he cleaned up Haris Rauf on the final ball of the 20th over.

With this wicket of Rauf, Sri Lanka sent a wave of jubilation into their camp and in the stands where the fans were waving the Lankan flag. The players were all happy and smiling after the win and they celebrated wildly post the win.
