The Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics to win their fourth NBA championship in the last seven years. This Warriors team was down in the dumps over the past two seasons as they lost their stars to injuries. But this season, their talisman Steph Curry carried his team over the line as he averaged 25.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists in the regular season.

Steph Curry then entered overdrive in the finals as he was averaging 31.2 points, six rebounds and five assists while shooting 48 per cent from the field and 41.8 per cent from 3-point land. These incredible stats helped him clinch his maiden finals MVP award. Hence after the final buzzer, the two-time MVP broke down in tears and was extremely emotional as he achieved his goal after dealing with some difficult times.

To get back here means the world: Curry

“We found a way to just get it done,” Steph Curry said as he lifted the Larry O'Brien trophy and celebrated on the court. “It’s part of a championship pedigree, our experience. ... We built this for 10-11 years. That means a lot when you get to this stage. You hit rock bottom with injuries and the long road ahead... never take this for granted because you never know when you’ll get back here. To get back here means the world,” he continued.

GSW coach Steve Kerr praised his star and said, "I've said it so many times, Steph Curry reminds me so much of Tim Duncan. Totally different players. But from a humanity standpoint, talent standpoint, humility, confidence, this wonderful combination that just makes everybody want to win for him."
