The professional cricketers often leave the fans in awe of them with their spectacular efforts and outstanding display on the field. However, not all moments are heroic! There are times when players have a brain fade moment which eventually becomes slightly embarrassing for them. Well, something similar happened during the 2nd Test between New Zealand and South Africa.

After the Proteas posted a competitive total of 364 runs on board, the Kiwis found themselves in a state of bother having lost few early wickets. Tom Blundell, coming on the back of a fantastic 96-run knock in previous Test, came to the crease to join hands with Daryll Mitchell.

New Zealand lose their 5th wicket in astonishing fashion

The wicketkeeper batsman got off to a stylish start as he played a beautiful cover drive off Kagiso Rabada, on the 5th delivery of his innings. But what happened on the next ball left everyone in shock? The South African pacer changed his line and bowled a lot more straighter but it seemed like Blundell was not prepared for the same.

The right-handed batsman surprisingly decided to leave the delivery and the ball went on to crash into the stumps, ending Blundell's brief stay in the middle. No one could understand the logic behind what happened, but what one could say that it was indeed a brain fade moment for the talented batsman.

South Africa on top at stumps on Day 2

After the dismissal of Blundell, New Zealand fought their way back into the contest with a crucial partnership between Daryll Mitchell (29*) and Colin de Grandhomme (54*). However, there was no doubt that South Africa were on top at stumps on Day 2 with the Kiwis score reading 157/5, still trailing the visitors by 207 runs in first innings.
