The debate over the inclusion of the Decision Review System (DRS) is far from over. While many cricket pundits have raised doubts over its accuracy and termed it as a 'boon,' several have called it a blessing as well. While several cricketers feel lucky to escape a dismissal with the help of DRS, few are left disappointed due to the non-availability of the review system during a match due to various reasons.
A similar incident came to light during the 3rd Test between England and New Zealand when Kiwi wicket-keeper batter Tom Blundell (55 off 122) was struck leg before wicket by Matty Potts in the 96th over of the first innings, but could not question the on-field umpire's decision as the DRS was not available due to technical fault.
The wicket-keeper batter Tom Blundell was looking quite desperate to go upstairs as he was looking in prime form and had already stitched a 120-run stand with Daryl Mitchell (109 off 228). But, he was left shocked and surprised when he was informed about the non-availability of the DRS.

Ironically, DRS technology was made available after 15 minutes of the wicket-keeper's dismissal. Speaking of the match, New Zealand had a troublesome start to their first innings after skipper Kane Williamson opted to bat. Veteran pacer Stuart Broad dismissed opener Tom Latham on a duck as England bowlers kept on picking wickets at regular intervals until Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell stitched a crucial 120-run partnership to rescue their side from a mini-collapse. Till lunch, New Zealand had scored 325/8 in 115.5 overs.
