On Sunday, December 8, the controversy surrounding Adelaide Test centurion Travis Head and Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj finally came to rest with both players sharing their respective side of the tale. After Head had claimed that he “jokingly said ‘well bowled’” following the reactions, Siraj claimed it all to be a lie.

Speaking ahead of Day 3’s play alongside former India spinner Harbhajan Singh, Siraj said, “I was enjoying bowling to him. It was a good battle because he batted really well. When a batter hits you for a six on a good ball, it feels bad. That gave me an energy. After bowling him out, I celebrated. Then he abused me. You can see on TV as well. In the start, it was my celebration. I didn’t say anything to him. In the press conference, he said wrong thing. He lied. No way, he said well bowled.”

Speaking to ABC Sport, Head clarified, “He’s come out then and said it was a little bit of a misunderstanding…. I think we’ll move on, we’ve had a great week, so let’s not ruin it… I’m sweet, and I think he’s the same, and we move on.”

Further explaining their conversation, revealing Siraj had questioned his use of profanity, Head said, “It was fine. He said, ‘Why’d you swear?’ L sort of said, ‘Look, I didn’t at first … (but) I definitely swore at you the second time round.”
