The IPL 2023 fixture between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals got off to a horrific start for the home side as RCB captain Virat Kohli got out on the first ball of the match. Captaining his second match after 2021, Kohli opened the innings and was ready to take on Trent Boult.

The left-arm seamer from New Zealand, living up to his reputation of picking wickets in the first over, sent out his trademark inswinger. This ball pitched fuller in the middle of the pitch and Kohli attempted a flick but was caught plumb, being dismissed on a golden duck.

But Kohli's wicket didn't Bangalore's batting effort as Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell took care of the run-scoring responsibility. This pair posted a crucial 127-run partnership, helping RCB set a total of 189 runs in their 20 overs. Whereas with the ball,  Sandeep Sharma and Boult were the top performers as they picked up two wickets each.

Reacting to his bowling effort, Trent Boult spoke about how he has been using his experience at the top which has allowed him to take wickets. While interacting in the mid-innings show, Bout said,   "Just one of those ones on track. Nice to set the tone there, couple of wickets upfront. "

"Just go out there and use your experience (about his role with the new ball). Some days it works, some days it doesn't. I think this is a chasable total, to restrict them under 190 is good. They are a classy side though, not going to be an easy task but we have the guys to chase it down."
