Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan slammed Narendra Modi Stadium staff for kicking a stray dog during the IPL 2024 clash between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans. On March 24, Sunday, five-time IPL winners locked horns with 2022 champions Gujarat Titans at the world’s largest stadium in Ahmedabad. During the match, a stray dog escaped the security and made its way to the grounds.

While a previous video showed MI captain Hardik Pandya trying to stop the ball, a new one has gone viral where the stadium staff could be seen kicking and hitting the dog. The video sparked outrage on social media, and fans slammed the staff members for their actions. It also caught the attention of Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, who shared it on his Instagram story and shared his reaction.

Dhawan wrote, “Wtf a dog isn’t a football. Also, the dog isn’t biting or harming anyone. Regardless there has to be a better way.” Talking about the match, Gujarat Titans clinched the victory by six runs and kicked off their IPL 2024 campaign with a win. The Shubman Gill-led side locked horns with reigning champions and their IPL 2023 final rivals Chennai Super Kings in their second match of the tournament.

Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, are set to play against SunRisers Hyderabad in the eighth fixture of the tournament on March 27 in Hyderabad.
