Following Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) eight-wicket win against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Qualifier 1 at the New PCA Stadium on May 29, an old video of the former’s supporter has resurfaced. After RCB’s dominating seven-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 22, a Bengaluru supporter failed to control his emotions and celebrated wildly in the middle of his wedding. He started running on the stage and hugged his friends and folks familiar to him. Noting the groom, the bride looked stunned as she couldn't apprehend why her husband was behaving that way.

RCB, who have played extraordinarily at this T20 event, conquered PBKS in Qualifier 1. Fielding first, Challengers’ bowlers mauled Punjab’s batting attack and concluded the latter’s innings on 101 in 14.1 overs. Suyash Sharma and Josh Hazlewood were too hot to handle as both bowlers took three wickets apiece to shatter Punjab’s confidence completely in the game. Suyash, who grabbed 3/17 figures in his three-over spell, became the Player of the Match (POTM) for his stunning bowling.

RCB in IPL finals after nine years

With their success against Punjab, RCB have become the IPL team with the third-most final appearances, following Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). MI have played six IPL finals while Chennai have made appearances in 10 finals in their 16 IPL seasons. RCB have qualified for the fourth time in the IPL finals.

Earlier, they played 2009, 2011, and 2016 IPL finals but got no success. In 2009, they lost to the Adam Gilchrist-led Deccan Chargers by six runs in Johannesburg while in 2011, CSK thumped them by 58 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. In 2016, the David Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) trumped them by eight runs.
