Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) veteran Virat Kohli has been accused of insulting Punjab Kings (PBKS) young all-rounder Musheer Khan in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Qualifier 1 played at the New PCA Stadium on May 29. In a video going viral on social media, Musheer can be seen getting ready to take stands against Suyash Sharma and at the same time, Kohli was apparently talking to one of his teammates and alluding with a bottle sign while pointing his fingers towards Musheer. Noting this video, Kohli has become a target of several netizen, accusing him of referring to the youngster as a ‘water boy’ and also remarked, ‘Yeh paani pilata hai'.
Following the viral clip, Kohli is facing criticism, but a huge section of social media users also came in the veteran’s defense. Kohli’s supporters have claimed that the 36-year-old wasn’t insulting the PBKS young all-rounder but was saying that he (Musheer) was serving water a few moments ago, and now, he has come to bat.
Virat Kohli dismissed early in Qualifier 1 in IPL 2025 vs PBKS
Although RCB clinched a convincing triumph against PBKS in Qualifier 1, Virat Kohli failed to be impactful with his bat scoring only a run-a-ball 12. Following his innings, he started getting trolled on social media platforms for his failure in RCB colours in a big game. However, his fans will now expect him to step up in the final to be played in Ahmedabad on June 3.
At the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, Kohli has played six IPL games, in which he has accumulated 219 runs with two fifties, at a strike rate of 131.13. In 2024, when RCB played Eliminator against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the venue, the legendary batter could score only 33 off 24.
