Following the close of play on day two of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 clash between Delhi and Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, former Indian captain Virat Kohli was felicitated by the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) for playing 100 Test matches. Rohan Jaitley, the President of DDCA, gave a shawl and a special memento to Virat Kohli on Friday, January 31, to recognise his achievement in Test cricket, and following that, he touched his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma’s feet.

Notably, Virat Kohli played his 100th Test match for India in March 2022 against Sri Lanka at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, Chandigarh. The Indian cricketing superstar is just the third player from Delhi to play 100 Test matches for the country after Ishant Sharma and Virender Sehwag, both of whom retired with 105 and 104 appearances to their name respectively.

Virat Kohli was clean bowled by Himanshu Sangwan of Railways for six runs

Prior to the special felicitation from the DDCA and the subsequent embrace with childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Virat Kohli was dismissed for six runs in 15 balls with one boundary. Himanshu Sangwan etched his name in the history books uprooting the off stump of Virat Kohli on his return to Ranji Trophy in Delhi’s colours after a wait of more than 12 years.

After Virat Kohli’s dismissal in the first session of play on day two, in the 28th over of the Delhi first innings, most of the fans present at the Arun Jaitley Stadium made their way to the exit doors. With that, they missed out on the felicitation ceremony organised by the DDCA at the close of play on day two, where Rohan Jaitley did the honours on behalf of the cricket’s governing body in Delhi.

At stumps on day two, Delhi reached 334/7 total in their first innings with half-centurion Sumit Mathur still at the crease alongside Siddhant Sharma after they had bowled out Railways for 241 runs.
