India’s batting maestro Virat Kohli’s doppelganger was seen at the stands during the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy game between Delhi and Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The seventh round game of the competition between two sides marked Kohli’s comeback in the Ranji Trophy after a long gap of 12 years. The veteran India stalwart’s participation for Delhi in his hometown has drawn a colossal number of crowds to the stadium. 

Among the large number of spectators who flocked to watch Kohli bat, saw a bearded man who grabbed a lot of eyeballs for his resemblance to Kohli. His thick beard and similar shades as Kohli helped him catch the cameraman’s attention. His astonishing appearance brought cheers to the faces of fans inside the stands. Outside the stadium, several people were seen around the doppelganger, clicking selfies and pictures, which have been making rounds on social media.

Kohli receives loud welcome from fans on the opening day at his home ground  

The enormous crowd displayed excitement for Kohli’s comeback on Day 1 of the contest. His ardent fans were seen assembling outside the stadium. With the progression of the match, people started accumulating at the ground in large numbers. The chants of Kohli-Kohli and RCB (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) corroborated for the 36-year-old and added to the electrifying atmosphere at the ground. 

Outside the venue, a stampede-like situation occurred, however, the security personnel stepped up and brought the situation under control efficiently. During the game, a fan also breached the security and barged into the playing arena to touch Kohli’s feet. Following the scene, the security squad intervened but couldn’t stop him from achieving his objective. Eventually, the security personnel took him back to the stands.   

As the fans couldn’t witness Kohli’s batting on the opening day, on Day 2, the right-handed batter took the guards in the middle after his side lost Arpit Rana and Yash Dhull at a score of 78 while chasing a score of 241. However, Kohli couldn’t do much with his bat as he departed after scoring only six off 15 deliveries, with his innings being laced by a four.
