On Tuesday, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) broke their trophy drought of 17 long years as they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final. After being put to bat first, RCB posted a decent sore of 190/9 in their stipulated 20 overs, courtesy a gritty knock of 43 from Virat Kohli.
When it came to the run-chase, PBKS never looked in the game as they kept losing wickets at crucial intervals and eventually the game looked completely out of their hands. While RCB clicked as a unit in the summit clash, Krunal Pandya proved crucial with the ball, registering figures of 2/17 in his four-over spell.
Virat Kohli lifts his maiden IPL trophy with RCB, ending 17-year wait
What caught the attention was Virat Kohli, a man who has been with the franchise since its inception. While he had moments on the field, fans had eagerly been waiting for the stalwart with the trophy and that was here. Soon after RCB skipper Rajat Patidar was handed the trophy by the BCCI Chairman, Roger Binny, it got into the hands of Kohli, who took it aaround the entire stadium.
Moreover, Kohli also celebrated the title triumph with his former teammates, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers, both of whom were in attendance at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
