Indian women's team faced a defeat yet again against New Zealand Women in 2nd ODI series at John Davies Oval in Queenstown. While chasing a total of 270, New Zealand finished the game in 49 overs, with 3-wickets in hand.

Earlier, Sabbhineni Meghana (49 off 50) and Shafali Verma (24 off 38) provided a much-needed foundation to the team in 1st innings of the game. Shafali was first to return, leaving the team's total to 61-1 in 11.1 overs. Later, middle-order batter Yastika Bhatia (31off 38), skipper Mithali Raj (66 off 81), and Richa Ghosh (65 off 64) made a valuable contribution to the team's total.

While chasing, New Zealand started off well but it was India's Yastika Bhatia who provided a much-needed breakthrough to the team with her spectacular full stretched catch at slip. It was 5th over of the match when opener Sophie Devine got a thick outside edge of left-arm orthodox Rajeshwari Gayakwad's not so wide ball. But Yastikha who was standing at slip took a sharp juggling catch. In her first attempt, she tried to get hold of the ball but it slipped, but holding her calm she dived full length to her left and surprised everyone with a superb catch.

However, Amelia Kerr's century knock (119 off 135) helped the hosts to stun India in the 2nd ODI. All-rounder Maddy Green (52 off 61) played vital innings and built a much-needed partnership with Green to ensure victory in the second consecutive game. India is yet to register a single victory in the tour as the visitors have been defeated in three consecutive games, comprising only T20I and two ODIs.
