The highly-anticipated five-match Test series for the newly minted Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 concluded in a stalemate after Shubman Gill-led Team India clinched six-run win over England at The Oval. While the Men in Blue secured a convincing 336-run win over England in Birmingham to level the series, they went down against the home side at Lord’s. However, fourth Test ended in a draw, India sealed the final Test in an edge of a seat thriller.

While it will go down in the history of Indian cricket, former India cricketer Yograj Singh has hit back at former skipper Kapil Dev’s statement. It is to be noted that the legend asked criticism on Shubman Gill’s captaincy to be toned down as he would learn as he progresses as captain of the team. But now Singh has taken a subtle dig on his former teammate for his remarks.

Tum apne maa ke pet se seekh ke aaye the?: Yograj Singh takes subtle dig at Kapil Dev

Speaking with ANI, Yograj Singh said that such things should not be said for the captain of the Indian team. However, the 67-year-old did not name anyone before making his comments, but it leaned towards Kapil Dev as he had made these remarks mid-way through the series. “Initially there were questions about Shubman Gill's captaincy. The team received praise when media criticism stopped. However, one person said that he is new, he has a lot to learn,” he said.

“Tum apne maa ke pet se seekh ke aaye the? (Did you learn from your mother's womb?) Such things should not be said. He is our captain. Very proud," Yograj continued. The former Indian pacer also hailed star Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj, who finished as the highest wicket-taker in the series. Singh also went onto compare Siraj with legend Kapil Dev.

“The way our players have performed, it was incredible to watch. Mohammed Siraj’s bowling reminded me of Kapil Dev. Shubman Gill’s captaincy appeared mature, as if he wasn’t captaining for the first time,” Yograj Singh added.
