Yusuf Pathan, the former Indian World Cup-winning all-rounder, smashed his Pakistani counterpart Mohammad Amir for 25 runs in an over in the Zim Afro T10 league on July 28, Friday. The scintillating innings from the 40-year-old was crucial as his team Johannesburg Buffaloes were able to defeat Durban Qalandars in Qualifier 1 of the competition by six wickets, with one ball left.

During the 141-run chase at the Harare Sports Club, the Johannesburg team were struggling at 77/4 in seven overs, needing a further 64 runs in three overs. But then, Yusuf Pathan changed the complexion of the match, smashing Mohammad Amir for three consecutive sixes in the first four deliveries of the over, towards mid-off, mid-on, and deep square leg region, respectively.

The fast bowler from Pakistan, who was under pressure at that time, bowled a wide delivery on the fifth ball of the over. Amir also conceded a four on the last ball of the over to Pathan, after giving away a couple of runs on the penultimate delivery.

The official Twitter account of the T10 League, shared the video of the three maximums, captioning it, “Far from over when @iamyusufpathan is in this form”.

Yusuf Pathan didn’t stop with his power-hitting exploits there. He collected a couple of sixes and a four against Brad Evans in the second last over of the Buffaloes' innings. Then, in the final over, he obliterated Tendai Chatara, scoring 6, 4, 6, 4, to hand his team a place in the Zim Afro T10 final, after getting them over the line against the Qalandars. The 40-year-old finished his innings on 82 not out off 26 deliveries, including five fours and eight maximums.
