India and Australia are currently locking horns in the first Test of the four-match Test series in Nagpur. The Day 1 saw a lot on drama as well as some exciting game with the Rohit Sharma-led side bundling out the visitors for a score of 177. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma-led his side from the front after scoring a half-century on the same day with the scoreboard reading 77/1 at Stumps on Day 1.

During the Day 1 of the play, Indian wicketkeeper turned commentator Dinesh Karthik engaged in an on-air banter with former Australian cricketer Mark Waugh. DK took a sly dig at the Australians stating that the hosts might win the match with more than an innings margin.

“I’m coming in an early to make a prediction, I strongly feel India will bat once and only once in this Test match. Mark my words Mark,” said DK. Waugh was quick to respond to DK’s comments as he said, “We’ll see about that DK, we’ll see about that.”

 

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri who was present in the commentary box at that point of time, slammed Waugh for his prediction from 2020-21 Border Gavaskar Trophy. Mark Waugh had predicted that Australia will whitewash India 4-0 after they were bowled out for 36.

 

“I remember a prediction he (Mark Waugh) made when we were 36 all out in Adelaide in Australia when he said ‘India will get hammered 4-0’.”

 

Dinesh Karthik on Friday morning, ahead of the Day 2’s play also made a bold prediction stating that India might bat the full day today.
