The Pakistan cricket team is scheduled to visit the US and the Caribbean for a white-ball tour comprising three T20Is and three ODIs against hosts West Indies. The tour is set to commence from August 1 and culminate on August 12. The three T20Is will be played at Lauderhill, Florida, followed by the same number of ODIs in Tarauba, Trinidad. However, there seems to be some disagreement that can reportedly put a question mark on Pakistan’s tour.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appear to be locked in a scheduling conflict of the upcoming series. According to the report by Cricbuzz, Pakistan officials are insisting on changing the Caribbean leg of the tour into T20Is and may reportedly consider options if the schedule is not revised by the West Indies board. The report further states that the Pakistan board is insisting on playing only the shortest format. “The schedule remains as it is, and we continue to engage with the PCB on the matter,” CWI CEO Chris Dehring said in his statement.

West Indies appears to be keen to seek qualification for ODI World Cup 2027

The reports related to this conflict between the two cricket governing boards highlights their own reasons for their actions. PCB’s position might be to organise as many T20Is as possible in the view of the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka next year.

On the other hand, West Indies having missed out the ODI World Cup in 2023 is keen to seek a qualification ticket for the ODI World Cup 2027, they might be eyeing this series as an opportunity to improve their ODI rankings as the top eight teams will secure direct qualification for the 50-over tournament.
