The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule for a white-ball tour to Sri Lanka in late July and early August. Further talking about the Island Nation,  Wanindu Hasaranga resigned from the T20I captaincy of Sri Lanka after the early exit of the team from the T20 World Cup 2024.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Gautam Gambhir as the head coach of the Indian Men's Cricket Team, and the former KKR mentor was given full freedom to pick his staff. However, days after his appointment, his choice for India's bowling coach was turned down while Gambhir's former teammate appeared to be the favourite for the role.  Gambhir reportedly requested the BCCI to appoint former Indian bowler Vinay Kumar as India's bowling coach. However, our sources revealed that the 2011 World Cup-winning Indian bowler Zaheer Khan is on the radar of the Indian board.

After demands of former India player Abhishek Nayar to be an assistant coach, Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir wants an ex-teammate in his coaching staff for the Men in Blue. This teammate is Netherlands all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate who Gambhir wants alongside him as he starts his new role with Team India in the white-ball series against Sri Lanka , as per Cricbuzz.  Tendo was Gambhir's teammate in Kolkata Knight Riders and has worked with various Knight Riders franchises around the world.

The Indian cricket team is unlikely to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 with the Indian government’s stance remaining the same about travelling to the country. Notably, due to the strained diplomatic relations between both nations, India and Pakistan don’t play any bilaterals and play each other in international tournaments only. Last year, India didn’t travel to Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup and played all their matches in Sri Lanka.  According to Sportstar, the BCCI wants India’s fixtures to be played at a neutral venue, in Sri Lanka or the United Arab Emirates. 

Kohli ignored, Hardik consulted by BCCI on Gambhir’s appointment as head coach: Reports

BCCI reportedly didn’t discuss Gautam Gambhir’s appointment as the head coach of the Indian cricket team with Virat Kohli.  According to reports by Hindustan Times, former skipper and modern-day great Virat Kohli was not consulted by the BCCI before Gambhir’s appointment as Dravid’s successor. The report also suggested that a few names including Hardik Pandya were kept in the loop regarding the same.

Rohit Sharma wanted to give up ₹5 crore T20 World Cup prize money for support staff: Reports

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, was reportedly ready to relinquish his prize money worth ₹5 crore for the T20 World Cup win, to compensate for the lower pay to the support staff.  “When the 125cr prize money was distributed, Rohit Sharma raised his voice and said 'support staff shouldn't get such less money'. He was even ready to relinquish his own bonus for us," said one of the support staff members to Abhishek Tripathi, a journalist from Dainik Jagran.

Babar Azam's future as Pakistan captain put on hold; Shan Masood to continue as Test skipper: Reports

Pakistan is to continue with top-order batter Shan Masood as the Test captain for the foreseeable future. This decision was reached after the Pakistan Cricket Board and coach Jason Gillespie had a meeting and took a call to repose faith in Masood ahead of a packed international season.  Further, all parties also have reportedly decided to put Babar Azam as captain in white-ball formats on hold. The development was reported by PTI, who quoted a source who was aware of the aforementioned meeting which also included the white-ball coach Gary Kirsten.

On Thursday, July 11, Wanindu Hasaranga resigned from the T20I captaincy of Sri Lanka after the early exit of the team from the T20 World Cup 2024. After getting appointed in the captaincy role in the T20I format, the all-round cricketer led the Sri Lankan cricket team in a handful of matches, with not much success to his name.
