In the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League, the match between the Gujarat Titans and the Kolkata Knight Riders was abandoned due to rain as both teams share a point, which ended the Titans' chance to qualify for the playoffs and the 2022 IPL winners joined the likes of the Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings as the three eliminated teams from the IPL 2024 playoff race.

In the IPL 2024 points table, the Kolkata Knight Riders increased their point difference to three from the second-placed Rajasthan Royals, who lost their last three games.  On the other hand, the Chennai Super Kings climbed to the third spot surpassing the SunRisers Hyderabad with their recent victory against RR.

Gujarat Titans knocked out of IPL 2024 playoff race after clash against KKR washed out

In match 63 of  IPL 2024, the Gujarat Titans (GT) were scheduled to host the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, May 13. Although both teams are coming off a win from their respective last matches, the clash turns out to be a must-win game for the Shubman Gill-led side.  But with persistent rain in Ahmedabad, the match was called off, and both teams earned a point, which forced Gujarat to become the third team to get knocked out of the IPL 2024 playoff race.
