Everton get 10-point deduction in Premier League for breaching FFP rules

After being found guilty of breaching the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules in the Premier League, Everton has received a 10-point deduction, the biggest in competition history. In the aftermath of slipping to the 19th place in the Premier League with just four points to their tally, Everton have sent out a statement in which they were “both shocked and disappointed” by the “wholly disproportionate and unjust” ruling, while stating their intention to appeal against the decision.

The Football Association (FA) has charged Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for his comments on VAR, calling it “embarrassing” and a “disgrace” after the Newcastle player Anthony Gordon was awarded the goal, leading to their 1-0 defeat at the St. James’s Park. The statement from FA read, “It's alleged that his comments constitute misconduct as they are insulting towards match officials and/or detrimental to the game and/or bring the game into disrepute.”

HS Prannoy loses Round of 16; crashes out  Japan Masters Super 500

Indian ace shuttler HS Prannoy lost his Round of 16 clash  against former World No 2 Chou Tien Chen at Japan Masters Super 500 in Kumamoto on Thursday. Prannoy won the first match but went on to lose the second game, forcing a decider, and registered a loss with  19-21 21-16 21-19 in 73 minutes. His defeat marked the end of Indian campaign at the Japan Masters 2023.

Jannik Sinner spoke about his 2023 ATP Finals victory over Holger Rune on Thursday, November 16. Sinner had won previous encounters  against Stefanos Tsitsipas (6-4, 6-4) and Novak Djokovic (7-5, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (1)). After his win over Rune, he said,  “You know, for me mentally, today was very important to play a really high-level match, get the emotions away from Novak’s win and getting on the court, trying my best."

NRAI makes major change to Paris Olympics’ selection policy for Indian shooters

The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) made a major amendment to its selection policy for the Paris Olympics 2024. Under the new changes, the shooting federation will award just two bonus points to the Olympic quota winners in the fire-arm category and one to air weapons shooters. Earlier, the Olympic quota winners earned 10 bonus points for World Championship gold while those finishing at fourth spot earned five points.
