Jesse Lingard joins the Saudi club Al-Ettifaq to train for one month

After getting handed a release from Nottingham Forest in June, the free agent Jesse Lingard has joined the Saudi club Al-Ettifaq, to train for a one-month duration. As per the reports, the 30-year-old could join the club as a full-time player, if the head coach Steven Gerrard decides that he can elevate his team in the Saudi Pro League.

Cristiano Ronaldo plans his football retirement at Al-Nassr: Reports

Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the greatest footballers of all-time, has reportedly told the bosses at Al-Nassr about his plan to retire at the club. The 38-year-old, who signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Saudi club this past January, has been in scintillating form in the Saudi Pro League, scoring nine goals in his last five appearances.

India reaches round of 16 in men’s and women’s table tennis events

On September 23, Saturday, Team India secured their spot in the round of 16 in both the men’s and women’s table tennis competition at the Asian Games 2023. The Indian men’s team defeated Tajikistan by 3-0 to win their third straight tie in Group F, while the Indian women’s team brushed aside Nepal by 3-0 to secure their second win in Group F too.

Neha Thakur and Vishnu Sarananwon sit in medal position in their respective sailing events

In the women’s singles dinghy ILCA4 sailing event, Neha Thakur is in bronze medal place in the overall standings after six races. Meanwhile, in the men’s singles dinghy ILCA7 sailing event, Vishnu Sarananwon is in second place in the overall standings, after winning the first race and finishing in fifth place in the second race of the day.

In Vancouver, Team World swept day 1 of the Laver Cup against Team Europe, winning four matches in a row. In the singles category, Ben Shelton got the ball rolling with a 7-6(4), 6-1 win against Arthur Fils, before Francisco Cerundolo got the better of Alejandro Davidovich Fokina by 6-3,, 7-5 and Felix Auger-Aliassime smashed Gael Monfils with a scoreline of 6-4, 6-3, while the doubles match saw Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe grind out a 6-3, 6-4, 10-6 victory against Arthur Fils and Andrey Rublev.

Marco Bezzecchi secures pole position in MotoGP Bharat

The Italian rider Marco Bezzecchi, who races for Team VR46, secured pole position in the inaugural MotoGP Bharat with a lap time of 1:43:947, during the qualifying session at the Buddh International Circuit on September 23, Saturday. The second place on the grid went to the Spainard Jorge Martin of Pramac Racing with a lap time slower by just 0:043 of a second, while the reigning world champion, the Italian, Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati clocked a lap time of 1:44:203 to secure third place on the grid for tomorrow’s race.
