English midfielder Lauren James sent off for stamping on Michelle Alozie in FIFA Women’s World Cup

The Lionesses star Lauren James got a red card for stamping on opponent Michelle Alzoie during England vs Nigeria round of 16 fixture in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. The game that took place at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane saw England winning the match despite James’ early departure. 

The team would now continue in their quarter-final clash without their star midfielder.  James and Alzoie got tangled while they were competing for possession of the ball. The fact that she wasn’t awarded a foul left James annoyed, and while getting up, the England player planted her right foot on Alzoie’s back during the 85th minute of the game. 

Al Nassr takes down Raja Casablanca 3-1; advances to Arab Cup semifinals for the first time since 1995

Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al Nassr made it to the semifinals of the Arab Club Champions Cup for the first time since 1995. The Riyadh-based football club took down the reigning champions Moroccan Raja Casablanca 3-1 to sail to the next round. The quarter-finals played at the Prince Sultan Stadium in the southern Saudi city of Abha on Sunday, August 6 saw Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the opening goal. 

In the semifinal round, Al Nassr will square off against Iran’s Al-Shorta on Wednesday, August 9.

India beat Malaysia 5-0 in Asian Championship Trophy 2023

The Indian hockey team managed to gain a resounding 5-0 win over Malaysia in the Asian Championship Trophy 2023 game on Sunday, August 6. The game that saw India’s second clean sheet after they took down Argentina 3-0 in April, took place at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai. 

With this win, India have managed to make it to the top of the standings with seven points in their account.

Pro Kabaddi releases list of retained players ahead of PKL 10 auction

The Pro Kabaddi League released its full list of retained players ahead of its 10th season auctions, on August 7, Monday. Notably, the auctions for the upcoming season of the tournament will be held in September 2023. As per the list, a total of 84 players were retained across three categories. The list includes 22 players from the Elite Retained Players (ERP), 24 in the Retained Young Players (RYP), and 38 in the Existing New Young Players (ENYP) category. Meanwhile, the unretained players will be auctioned at the auctions on September 8 and 9.

Mark Zuckerberg says he is ‘ready today’ for cage match with Elon Musk

Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that he is ready to fight Twitter (X) CEO Elon Musk ‘today’. Zuckerberg also added that he is awaiting Musk’s confirmation for the same. 

As per the latest developments, on Sunday, August 6, Zuckerberg posted on his new platform, Threads, that he is ‘ready today’ and that he proposed the date of August 26 for the fight. But the ‘X’ CEO hasn’t given any response on the same. He wrote, "I suggested Aug 26 when he first challenged, but he hasn't confirmed. Not holding my breath.”
