On Saturday, August 24, Anders Antonsen, the Denmark shuttler, who is the number four men’s singles player in the world, sacked his personal coach Joachim Persson. The 27-year-old took to his official Instagram account to claim that his personal coach was “placing bets” on matches during the Japan Open, which led to the decision to terminate his contract. Notably, as per the report from the Indian Express, Joachim Persson was involved in a scandal back in 2019, for which he was banned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for a year and a half. Although he didn’t agree with the decision of the BWF at the time, calling it “totally ridiculous.”

Paris Olympics 2024 bronze medallist Sarabjot Singh revealed one question that he would ask Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec and talked about his fandom for him. Notably, Singh teamed up with Manu Bhaker and clinched the 10m air pistol bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Singh revealed that Dikec is his role model and no matter how hard he tried, he could never imitate his techniques and perfection. Notably, the 51-year-old grabbed headlines during the 2024 edition of the tournament due to his gearless appearance, and winning the silver medal. The 22-year-old opened up on his fandom for the Turkish legend while revealing that he has been trying to imitate his action since 2011.

Tennis world number one Jannik Sinner finally broke his silence on the anti-doping case and said that he was relieved to escape a doping ban despite testing positive twice. The 23-year-old tennis star spoke publicly for the first time since the International Tennis Integrity Agency gave him a clearance this week of wrongdoing. The Agency accepted his explanation that the drug entered his system when his physiotherapist used a spray to treat a cut and gave a therapy to him. Sinner tested positive for low levels of the banned anabolic agent clostebol in March. While he was stripped of his results, the ITIA confirmed that an independent tribunal found that the tennis player "bears no fault or negligence".

Novak Djokovic has suffered an injury scare just days before the start of his US Open defence, which compelled the tennis icon to cut a training session. The 24-time Major winner is said to have felt some discomfort while practising at Flushing Meadows and was unable to continue after receiving treatment. However, after 30 minutes, there was no sign of Djokovic and Rune left the court, before he offered photos and autographs to the disappointed masses.

Indian women's team wins historic title at U17 World Wrestling Championships 2024

India clinched historic title of U-17 World Wrestling Championships on Saturday, August 24, as Kajal became the fifth wrestler from the country to bag the title. India lifted the title with 185 points. Kajal registered a 9-2 win over Ukraine’s Oleksandra Rybak in the 69kg weight category. However, Shrutika had to settle for silver in the 46kg category after losing to Japan’s Yuu Katsume who won the match in just 40 seconds. On the other hand, Raj Bala grabbed the bronze medal in the 40 kg category by registering a 11-5 win over Japan's Monaka Umekawa, whereas Muskan took down USA’s Isabella Gonzales by technical superiority in the 53kg bronze medal match.
