India to host 2025 FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup in December

The Executive Board of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has awarded the organisation of the next FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup to India, scheduled to  be played in December 2025. It will be the first time ever that a FIH Hockey Junior World Cup will include as many as 24 teams.  FIH President Tayyab Ikram said "Giving more opportunities to play to a larger and more diverse number of National Associations is one of the key pillars of our Empowerment and Engagement strategy. We saw at the FIH Hockey5s World Cup in Oman this year how more diversity brings a huge added value to our events."

The plan is to have minutes, I don't know how many, we need training to know. Until after training I don't know if they will be starters. But Pepe, Cristiano and Ruben will have minutes."

Poland skipper Robert Lewandowski is set to miss their opening match of the European Championship due to injury. The 35-year-old has reportedly suffered a tear in the biceps femoris muscle and will be compelled to be out as Poland play against Netherlands on June 16. He is expected to be fit by the next game, where they will play Austria.

Tennis legend Roger Federer delivered a speech for the prestigious Dartmouth College in Hanover at the graduation ceremony. Not only this, but he also received an Honorary Doctorate at Dartmouth College. In his speech, he said, I know the word is “retire.  Retired... The word is awful. You wouldn’t say you retired from college, right? Sounds terrible.  Like you, I’ve finished one big thing and I’m moving on to the next.  Like you, I’m figuring out what that is. Graduates, I feel your pain." He added, " People would say my play was effortless. Most of the time, they meant it as a compliment. But it used to frustrate me when they would say, "He barely broke a sweat! "Or "Is he even trying?"

Rohan Bopanna and Sumit Nagal secure Paris Olympics 2024 quota for India

Indian tennis stars Rohan Bopanna and Sumit Nagal secured Paris 2024 Olympics quota. Bopanna and Nagal secured the quotas through their ATP Rankings in singles and doubles respectively. The deadline to confirm the use of quotas for the National Olympic Committees is June 19. The tennis qualification window for Paris 2024 ended on Monday. Nagal made the cut after gaining after gaining 18 places in the singles rankings since last week. Bopanna is currently ranked fourth in the world rankings and was expected to obtain the quota comfortably. 

NRAI announces 15-member rifle and pistol squad for Olympics

The National Rifle Association of India on Tuesday announced a 15-member Indian Rifle and Pistol squad for the Paris Olympics 2024. The squad has only Manu Bhaker participating in more than one individual event, which would be the women's 10m air pistol and the women's 25m pistol.
